Nestled
in the foothills of the
Great
Dividing Range,

Mt.
Kosciusko
and 124 kilometres east of Albury/Wodonga, Corryong is
a beautiful small town with much to offer the seeking
tourist.
Drive
to Corryong via the Murray
Valley Highway or see the map with alternative entries.
Bikers
heading for the
Phillip
Island
races and coach companies find the alternative route
from the north preferable to the Hume
Highway.
The distant mountain ranges, lush river valleys and
good road surfaces add to an enjoyable trip.
Arriving
in Corryong via the Western entrance with liquid
ambers lining the divided road which show tremendous
variation of colour throughout the Autumn
months, you will find many places of interest and a
host of activities.
In
the centre of town you will find our Visitor
Information Centre. The volunteer staff
are most obliging and keen to help you have a
wonderful holiday. The centre has a vast array of
brochures and maps for your particular interests.
Sit
and relax soaking up the atmosphere while you throw in
a line for that elusive trout or expend some of that
energy trekking through the bush enjoying nature first
hand.
Some
of the more popular activities and past times are the
Man From Snowy River Folk Museum, recommended to
overseas visitors as one of the top ten museums in
Australia is worthy of a visit. Jack Riley's grave in

and Inflowmation Centre -
an insight to the workings of the Snowy Mountain Hydro
Electric Scheme.

of trek trough the bush enjoying the walking tracks
below bluff falls.
The
Man From
Snowy
River
- the most pristine section of the river lies between
Jingellic and Cowombat
Flat (Up in the Great Dividing
Ranges).
Spectacular photographs of the Murray River Can be
taken from Farrans Lookout
on your way to Walwa and Jingellic from Towong Gap on
the road to Khancoban.
While
visiting Corryong don't forget to check out the Nariel
Fish farm and the Emu farm
on the western outskirts of Corryong. Base yourself in
Corryong and go for day trips to Tumut 2 power station
where you travel through the mountains by bus for a
guided tour of this section of the Snowy Mountain
Power Scheme. A special colour coded map for day
trippers is available at the Khancoban Information
Centre and the Museum. Call into Khancoban on your way
to Murray Power Station and Inflowmation
Centre.
Activities
There
are a multitude of activities on offer for the
adventures. Outdoor activities in the region include
4WD tours, canoeing, horse riding, white water
rafting, bush walking, rock climbing, abseiling and
fly fishing tuition.
The
region also has a great reputation for excellent
summer conditions suitable for hang gliding and
paragliding. Take a picnic lunch, drive to Mt Mittamatite
or Playles Hill and see
the town ship of Corryong and surrounds from above, or
enjoy one of the many picnic spots along the
waterways.

Volunteers are able to provide information on many of
the festivals and events in our region such as the
Folk Festival over the Christmas/New Year break,
Towong Races at the famous Towong Turf Club regarded
as "Flemington of the Bush", the Corryong
Cup being a hang-gliding competition, and the
Khancoban Easter Festivities based on Fun &
Fireworks.

Corryong
has a wonderful variety of accommodation with two
excellent Caravan Parks, 2 Hotels, 3 Motels and 4
B&Bs, or if you prefer something different - go
camping at the
Tepee
Village
.
For
a small town we are fortunate to have such a variety
of eateries including four restaurants, two cafes, a
health food shop and cafe, well known bakery, pizza
shop and counter meals served at both hotels, with
special attention to children's tastes. Visit the
hotels and have a few drinks with the friendly locals
or chat over a hot expresso
coffee.
In
close proximity we have five other small townships -
Cudgewa, Tintaldra, Walwa, Jingellic and Khancoban,
which cater for visitors with accommodation, eateries
and art & craft.
The
Upper
